The touching story of ace music producer, Cobhams Asuquo, was shared on a recent edition of the ongoing super mom reality show by his mother, Gladys Asuquo.

She gave an account of her experience building her son after she discovered his eye problem three months after his birth. She immediately took him to the University Teaching hospital, Ibadan after which they were referred to a hospital in Kano where he was confirmed blind. She then had to resign from her job as a clerical officer in the army to spend enough time helping a little Cobhams adjust.

According to her, it was not an easy task, as her first responsibility was making him understand his blindness wasn’t a disability, ‘it wasn’t easy watching Cobhams do chores around the house and run errands like my other children but I resolved to make him as independent and capable of achieving anything he sets his mind to do. I showed him where his box of clothes was and would ask him to go get his clothes after bathing him’ she said.

Speaking on Cobhams’s love for music, Mrs Asuquo says she noticed his love for music at a very tender age when he would beat onanything he laid his hands on and in support, she bought for him musical instruments to play with, ‘Cobhams never went to school to learn any musical instrument, I think it was just an escape route for him’ she says adding that she wasn’t surprised when he decided to quit his Law programme at the University of Lagos.

Cobhams who is presently a husband and father, is an award winning music producer and singer and owns a music production company, CAMP with Bez, Stan Iyke and few others as artistes
